Your Role As A Big

Through years of careful study, Big Brothers Big Sisters firmly expects our volunteers to adhere to specific obligations. Our experienced personnel will assist you in meeting those requirements by supplying instruction, training, and activities to aid you in honing your skills as a Big.

Littles Achieve The Best Results When Their Big:

• Emphasizes friendship over changing the behavior.
• Is not authoritarian.
• Is patient. It takes time to build a meaningful relationship.
• Focuses on having fun.
• Sets boundaries and limits. We will work with you to ensure healthy boundaries are established.
• Acknowledges that positive impact on the child comes after the relationship is built.
• Puts a child's safety and well-being first.
• Helps form goals together through a Youth Outcome Development Plan (YODP).
